Teleradiology is the digitising of patient radiological images such as x-rays, CTs and MRIs, and then transmitting them from one location to another for the purposes of sharing studies with other radiologists and physicians. The unavailability and inadequacy of diagnostic services and qualified radiologists in urban or remote locations has created the momentum for the implementation of teleradiology services.
A teleradiology system is generally comprised of:
