Job Description Temporary Employee - Non-Exempt
The Tara Miller Melanoma Center at the Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania, has established a 5-week summer internship program as an introduction to different career opportunities in oncology. The program will specialize in melanoma and other skin cancers. The goal of the program is to expand the pipeline of students interested in pursuing a career in biomedical sciences. Students will have the opportunity to meet with a diverse group of faculty and staff members to gain exposure to various career paths in basic science and clinical/translational medicine to aid them in their career pathway decision-making. The program encompasses assigned readings, weekly journal clubs, specialized cancer topics seminars, scheduled shadow rotations in clinic with providers, human biobanking research, clinical data entry, exposure to clinical trials research, and research lab rotations. The paid internship will culminate in a presentation by the student on a topic of their choice relating to their exposure in translational oncology research.
