Fungal pathogenesis and commensal colonization research technician position at UCSF

In this position you will be an integral member of the Noble lab in the Microbiology and Immunology Department at UCSF. The Noble lab studies fungus-host interactions during health and infectious disease, using cutting-edge approaches from genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology. Previous staff research associates from the lab have gone onto highly desirable positions in graduate school and industry. This would be an ideal position for a recent college graduate seeking additional research experience.

You will be working with one or more postdoctoral fellows and/or PhD students to identify fungal regulators and effectors that mediate colonization and infection of mammalian hosts, with the goal of discovering fundamentally new principles of host-microbe interactions.

We seek a highly responsible candidate who is excited about host-microbe interactions and is eager to learn. Under direct supervision and training , your responsibilities will include mouse husbandry, performing infection studies with wild-type and mutant strains of Candida albicans , fungal propagation and strain construction, and a variety of molecular biology procedures including extraction of genomic DNA and PCR. In addition, the position calls call for some management duties, such as ordering reagents, and other assigned tasks.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $28.04 - $45.09 (Hourly Rate).
