Job Description

Duties

As a Security Specialist at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as principal security advisor to the Director, DMA with responsibility for planning, managing, and coordinating the full range of security programs and services for the DMA world-wide organization.
  • Participates in formulation of policies, standards, procedures, and methods, and their application.
  • Develops and maintains DMA's OPSEC program, to include drafting the organization's OPSEC program, policy, and guidance documents.
  • Assesses OPSEC procedures and processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, directives, policies, and guidelines.
  • Develops the Annual Threat Assessment. Leads efforts to develop criticality assessment, vulnerability assessment, and risk assessments.
  • Identifies the organization's Critical Information List (CIL)/Essential Elements of Friendly Information (EEFI)
  • Manages and oversees CUI implementation across DMA.
  • Reports misuse, mishandling, or UD of CUI to the Unauthorized Disclosure as appropriate.
  • Oversees CUI requirements for contractor implementation in partnership with the Defense Contract Management Agency, based on Defense Contract Management Agency responsibilities, or DCSA for cleared contractors in accordance with the NISP, as appropriate.
  • Develops and conducts initial, annual, and topic-specific training to individuals and groups as required.
  • Provides foreign travel AT/FP briefings, employee training, communicating threat and situational awareness information to DMA leadership and workforce.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:


One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation and supported organizations.
  • Conducting organizational-wide security inspections, identify and analyzing security problems, and recommend and direct resolutions to problem areas.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and direction to organization leaders/managers/staff on a wide range of Operational security (OPSEC) activities and initiatives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
