Job Description
Responsible for the care and treatment of newborn infants suffering from illness or prematurity, as well as caring for their parents and guardians. Provide round-the-clock care for the basic and medical needs of newborn infants in the NICU. Assist the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments.

Patient Population: 23 weeks GA - Term Patient Ratios: 1:3 Vented; 1:2 High Acuity; 1:1 Number of Beds: 21 licensed bed unit Department Specifics: State Designated Level III NICU Care, 200 Annual NICU admissions, 93% BSN, 58% RNC, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants, 2-time Magnet Recognized Facility, 24/7 Neonatologist coverage and NNP in-house coverage. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. What You'll Do You, as an RN, will conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues. You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment. What Will Make You Successful In The Role A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures. Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules. Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties. Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. Qualifications Grad of an Accredited Program Requirements: 1 year Level 3 NICU experience (includes vented patients) or a good strong Level 2 experience Specialized field of study should be nursing. A current and valid nursing license. Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
