Job Description

We are an organization dedicated to improving public safety and strengthening communities across the country. Our mission is to reduce crime and incarceration by supporting initiatives that increase opportunities for individuals involved with the justice system. By collaborating with diverse partners, we bring together different perspectives to drive meaningful change. Our work is research-driven, ensuring that data and evidence inform every decision.

We focus on three strategic goals:
- Breaking the cycle of incarceration
- Advancing health, opportunity, and equity
- Using data to improve safety and justice

We are a team of over 170 professionals based across the nation, bringing decades of experience in criminal justice, juvenile justice, and Tribal justice. We are united by a shared commitment to public service, to one another, and to our values.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Policy Analyst to join our team. The Policy Analyst will play a key role in supporting economic mobility for individuals with criminal records. This position involves providing technical assistance to federal grantees and other stakeholders, focusing on reentry programs that improve education and employment outcomes for individuals leaving prisons and jails. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that shape policies aimed at breaking down barriers to opportunities, and you'll help create valuable resources to share insights with a broader audience.

Responsibilities

As a Policy Analyst, you will:

- Provide technical assistance to state, local, and Tribal government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and service providers implementing reentry programs.
- Lead and facilitate monthly phone or video conference calls, group learning sessions, and offer guidance between calls.
- Conduct on-site technical assistance when needed, coordinating meetings, site visits, and stakeholder engagement.
- Organize and participate in webinars, conferences, and training events related to criminal justice reform and reentry.
- Collaborate with senior staff to shape long-term strategies for reentry and economic mobility initiatives.
- Engage with field experts and potential project consultants or partners to further initiatives.
- Keep senior staff and other stakeholders informed of project developments and ensure alignment with broader goals.
- Travel as needed, including occasional travel to conferences or jurisdictions to achieve project goals.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

- Is committed to fostering equity and inclusion through self-awareness, cultural sensitivity, and respect for others.
- Has at least three years of experience in providing technical assistance, project management, or policy analysis in criminal justice, reentry, education, workforce development, or related fields.
- Demonstrates knowledge of policies and programs aimed at improving education and employment outcomes for individuals on correctional or community supervision.
- Has strong research, writing, and editing skills with a sharp analytical mind.
- Is experienced in engagement, facilitation, and building productive relationships.
- Possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in clear and accessible ways.
- Is able to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and deadlines with ease.
- Is open to traveling up to two times per month to support initiatives across the country.
- Has reliable internet and a secure connection for remote work and business travel.

How to Apply

If you're ready to make a difference, we invite you to apply by submitting the following:

- A cover letter
- A resume, including details of professional, internship, or volunteer experience

We consider all types of experience, including unpaid or volunteer roles, fellowships, and internships.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $64,500 to $88,500, depending on experience and location. We are committed to fair pay and transparency.

In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility.

We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer, committed to diversity in our staff and welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, including those with personal experience in the criminal justice system.
