Summary Pumpkin Patch is a bustling yet intimate family-owned childcare center located in Cromwell. We provide high quality play-based childcare to children ages infant to preschool. Additionally, we provide summer camp and before and after school for school aged children. The Pumpkin Patch provides a positive workplace culture and room for growth as well as opportunities to pursue degrees in the field of early childhood education paid for through by the Office of Early Childhood Education.
The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the assistant teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Assistant teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director and actively engaging with children creating strong relationships with each child.
This is a Monday-Friday full-time position.
Duties - Assist in the planning and implementation of curricula activities
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order of the classroom
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
- Encourage independence and utilize positive behavioral supports
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to childcare center
- Create an emotionally responsive environment that is attuned to children's emotional needs
- Demonstrate professionalism and strong communication skills
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements - High School Diploma
- Ability to work well with others
- Professionalism, punctuality, reliability
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Must clear full background check.
- Must pass health screening
