Job Description

Global high tech manufacturer with their headquarters in Irvine is looking for a leader in their technical accounting group. The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting will be responsible for proactively remaining abreast of all U.S. GAAP and SEC developments relevant to the Company’s business and financial reporting. The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting, will play a role in improving and maintaining the Company’s SOX control framework. In addition, the role serves as the subject matter expert on accounting guidance, standards, and reporting requirements for the Company.
Position Responsibilities:

• Review transaction documents, research accounting guidance and write technical accounting memos that analyze and interpret guidance to determine the proper accounting treatment for significant and/or unusual transactions.
• Assess the impact of new U.S. GAAP and SEC pronouncements and ensure compliance with the relevant financial reporting standards.
• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements as well as to prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy.
• Manager form 5500 and preparation of 401K plan.
• Provide direction and guidance to the accounting organization to ensure all activities are recorded and reported in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors during the implementation process of new standards and in the execution of the audits specific to technical accounting matters.
• Assist in the adoption and implementation of new business, accounting, and financial reporting processes.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and footnotes, as requested.
• Provide support to Operational Departments and ad-hoc requests.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  
• Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX.
• Ensure the relationships lead to support for overall Company, business, function, and departmental goals.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience, with at least 3+ years at a national public accounting firm.
• Active CPA license.
• Highly driven and self-motivated, with a hands-on approach to ensure high-quality deliverables are produced timely.
• Ability to present in front of a large group the accounting conclusions reached for a certain transaction. Demonstrated ability to garner support from direct reports, peers, and colleagues from other departments.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through previous work assignments.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation based on experience and location:

$120,000 -$175,000 + bonus
