Job Description: Seasonal Garden Center Assistant

Location: Lombard Ace Hardware

Position Type: Temporary, Seasonal (8 weeks, Spring)

Schedule: Flexible, includes weekends and holidays

Position Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Seasonal Garden Center Assistant

to join our team during the busy spring season. This temporary position is

ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, interacting with customers, and

has a passion for plants and gardening.

Key Responsibilities:

-- Assist customers in selecting plants, gardening supplies, and related products.

-- Provide basic care advice for plants, including watering, sunlight needs, and pest prevention.

-- Receive, organize, and stock plants, soil, fertilizers, and other garden center inventory.

-- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the garden center.

-- Ensure plants are properly watered and cared for during your shifts.

-- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems for customer purchases, if needed.

-- Assist with unloading deliveries and replenishing stock.

-- Answer customer questions or direct them to appropriate team members for assistance.

Qualifications:

-- Interest in gardening, plants, or landscaping preferred.

-- Friendly, customer-focused attitude with strong communication skills.

-- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

-- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, and stand for extended periods.

-- Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

-- Prior experience in retail, landscaping, or a garden center is a plus but not required.
