At Boston Children?s Hospital, we strive to develop new treatments for pediatric diseases. We are seeking a highly motivated and independent individual as a research assistant to join our basic and translational research group in the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children?s Hospital. The research assistant will be a member of a team that is developing novel therapies for inherited heart disease. The Pu lab is a multi-disciplinary lab that studies heart development and disease using advanced molecular and cellular approaches in animal models and human stem cells. Lab members are exposed to a diverse array of techniques and research ranging from fundamental, mechanistic studies of gene regulation to translational development of novel therapies.

This Research Assistant II will be responsible for:

• Performing molecular biology and animal experiments.
• Performing RNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq experiments.
• Performing histology, immunostaining, and confocal imaging.
• Analyzing tissue sections using spatial transcriptomic technologies.
• Manage core facility equipment used for spatial transcriptomics, including training users and assisting with troubleshooting.
• Assists with planning specific research procedures, and coordinating schedules of experiments and procedures. Develops and troubleshoot new techniques specific to the lab.
• Maintains accurate records of results and methodologies into a log of work performed. Compiles and helps analyze data, preparing charts, graphs, and results of studies.
• Demonstrates basic laboratory techniques to laboratory assistants and technicians, research fellows, residents and students. Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.

In order to qualify, you must have:

• The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, toxicology, pharmacology, or a related field. A Master?s degree is desired preferred.
• At least 12 months of hands-on laboratory experience including experience with tissue sectioning and imaging, and molecular biology.
• Intermediate laboratory skills including molecular biology and microscopy.
• Self-motivation and independence are musts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to learn new skills are a must.
• Excellent record-keeping and meticulous attention to detail are musts.
