Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. The News Associate Program is a 24-month, high-intensity program designed to develop entry-level media professionals. Participants in the program will work in a fast-paced newsroom in one of NBCUniversal's local stations. This program is an accelerated opportunity for professionals with Broadcast Communications or Journalism degrees and / or a minimum of one year of experience within a professional newsroom. The program will include a significant investment in training and coaching from some of the industry's best. The right candidate will learn the skills necessary to develop into a successful Reporter, Producer or Multimedia Journalist, while immersed in a professional newsroom. Responsibilities + Produce multiplatform stories for both NBC and Telemundo by contributing to on-air, streaming, digital, and social platforms + Shoot, write and edit for broadcast and digital as assigned + Develop contacts in the community and pitch original stories consistent with our brand and news philosophy + Work with Producers, Assignment Desk, I-Team, and Streaming Producers to develop special in-depth coverage + Ability to work a 24/7 shift and respond to breaking news Qualifications/Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communications or Journalism or equivalent experience + 6 months to one year of journalism experience + Commitment to news production or journalism as a career + Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment + Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
