Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems (Remote, AMERICAS)
As a Project Manager within the Devices team, you will play a key role in managing complex customer-facing projects from start to finish. You will be the primary point of contact between engineering teams and customers, ensuring the successful delivery of projects involving Ubuntu on a variety of devices such as robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems.
In this high-profile role, you'll work closely with team members, customers, partners (including silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, and IHVs), and other departments, building and nurturing strong relationships along the way.
This is a remote position based in the AMERICAS region, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with a diverse and global team.
What You Will Do:
Lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with both company and client goals.
Deliver engineering professional services and provide timely project execution.
Collaborate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and statements of work.
Ensure client approval on project timelines and deliverables.
Manage project risks and proactively address issues to meet deadlines and expectations.
Foster regular communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
Oversee third-party deliverables, ensuring they meet critical project timelines.
Keep management updated on project statuses, risks, and milestones.
Advocate for relevant technologies from the product portfolio to meet customer needs.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, supporting different time zones and flexible working hours as necessary.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in project management, specifically in delivering engineering services to clients, managing software development teams and field engineers.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-cultural and multi-continent projects, ideally involving teams from Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
Strong understanding of Linux and the open-source software ecosystem, with a solid grasp of computer architecture.
Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
A proactive leader and problem-solver with a track record of successful partnerships and relationship-building with both internal teams and external clients.
PMP, PMI, or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
Ability to work non-standard hours to support a global team.
Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year for internal events.
