Photo and Video Production Coordinator

Muskingum University invites applications for a Photo and Video Production Coordinator.  This position is essential in developing and delivering thoughtful, engaging, and vibrant photos and videos that tell the Muskingum University story through its various publications and digital channels, including website and social media.  This position works collaboratively with the Strategic Marketing and Communications team and campus partners to capture and edit photos and videos that are high-quality, dynamic, integrated, and compelling. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Capture photos of people, places and things using creativity and technical abilities in photographic equipment and photo manipulation software developing creative, vibrant, and engaging photos for university publications, emails, website, and social media channels. 
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of photo shoots, including working with university partners to identify talent, securing locations, coordinating schedules, recommending attire, setting up lighting, conducting shoots, selecting best results, and editing for final use.  
  • Attend University events to capture candid photos for use in marketing materials and social media. 
  • Oversee the University’s digital asset management system, ensuring images are selected, edited, tagged, and uploaded to the system.  
  • Maintain photo and video production equipment and ensure equipment is operational. 
  • Collaborate with university partners to understand needs and work creatively to produce the desired products. 
  • Film and edit videos for use at events, in email, on social media or the website.  
  • Work in collaboration with the Strategic Marketing and Communications team and with University partners on video script development. 
  • Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of video projects, including working with University partners to identify talent, securing location, coordinating schedules, providing direction on attire, script development or editing, setting up lighting and audio equipment, conducting video shoots, and editing in post-production.  
  • Utilize the University’s drone to capture footage for videos. 
  • Live stream events supporting the University’s virtual engagement opportunities. 
  • Continually pursue new opportunities to advance the University’s presence using photos and videos. 
  • Engage in self-education opportunities to adapt to new technologies and pursue regular professional development and engagement with the field through research, publications, presentations, participation in regional and national associations, and/or contributing to discussions and developments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES   

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in photography art, digital media production, marketing, or related field of study 
  • At least 1 year of professional experience shooting and editing photos and videos 
  • Proven experience as a photographer and videographer in creative story telling for a variety of marketing vehicles 
  • Experience in and certification for using drones 
  • Experience using Photoshop, YouTube, teleprompter and associated software, and video editing software including Adobe Premier and/or Final Cut Pro 
  • Detailed knowledge of photography art and lighting 
  • Detailed knowledge of videography art, sound and lighting 
  • A brand publishers’ mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it 
  • Strong creative presence and artistic flair 
  • A command of best practices for staged and candid photography and shooting and editing video 
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, as well as a willingness to contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
