Job Description



The Manager, Real Estate Finance, leads a team of financial analysts responsible for underwriting all acquisitions, development, redevelopment, and lending opportunities in Public Storage’s multi-billion-dollar capital investment program. Reporting to the Vice President, Real Estate Finance, the position also works closely with the heads of Acquisitions, Development, and Lending in managing priorities and deadlines related to firm’s steady transaction pipeline. Successful candidates will have significant experience in real estate investment analysis within an institutional setting, working on both property, portfolio, and M&A style transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting potential acquisitions, developments, loans, and other investments through data-driven analytical methods
  • Manage team of 3 to 4 financial analysts, determining workload and prioritization of deals based on transaction deadlines and other investment timing needs
  • Create market and competition analysis to formulate views on rental rates, occupancy trends, supply growth, and other factors that impact underwriting assumptions
  • Partner with data analytics team to constantly improve pro forma models and other analytical tools
  • Coordinate bi-annual property-by-property investment pipeline reporting to senior management
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by department or firm leadership
  • Develop analyst training program to systemize onboarding, training, and mentorship of entry level financial analysts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in real estate or investment management
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills with a focus on Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in large datasets
  • Energetic, organized, creative, and highly motivated person with the ability to learn and work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong work ethic and ability to support multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
  • Strength of character and flexible style to work successfully with a range of people, from staff to executives. Has the personal presence to deal effectively with these constituencies
  • An entrepreneurial spirit who has the commitment and wherewithal to collaboratively grow the Public Storage platform. This person will bring and implement industry best practices and sophistication to the Company.
