Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Teacher for our 3-4-year-old classroom at Jupiter House Preschool. As a Reggio-inspired, STEM-infused preschool with a Montessori foundation, our approach fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
In this role, you will design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that align with our unique curriculum while nurturing the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of each child. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of educators, maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment, and build strong partnerships with families.

Duties

Curriculum Development and Implementation
  • Plan and execute age-appropriate, engaging lesson plans that align with Reggio, STEM, and Montessori principles.
  • Foster creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning opportunities for children.
  • Incorporate activities that support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child.
Classroom Management
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines to promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Observe and address individual and group dynamics to ensure a positive classroom culture.
Child Assessment and Development
  • Monitor and document each child?s progress and developmental milestones.
  • Identify and address individual learning needs, adapting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Provide regular feedback to families on their child's growth and development.
Family Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with families through open communication and regular updates.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss progress and goals.
  • Encourage family involvement in classroom activities and special events.
Collaboration and Leadership
  • Work closely with assistant teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive team approach.
  • Mentor and support assistant teachers in their professional growth and development.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure adherence to all state licensing and TRS 3-star accreditation standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental assessments.
  • Uphold health and safety protocols, including sanitation and emergency procedures.
Creative and Enriching Activities
  • Incorporate music, art, sensory play, and outdoor exploration into daily routines.
  • Plan and organize special projects, field trips, or cultural celebrations to enhance learning.
Professionalism
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
  • Represent the preschool?s values and mission in interactions with children, families, and the community.
  • Stay current on early childhood education trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Education and Certification
  • Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent certification (required).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an early childhood education setting, preferably with children aged 3-4.
  • Familiarity with Reggio, STEM, and/or Montessori-inspired teaching methods (preferred).
  • Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of early childhood developmental stages and learning strategies.
  • Excellent classroom management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to design and implement creative, hands-on, and age-appropriate lesson plans.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with children, families, and staff.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to balance planning, teaching, and documentation.
