Position Purpose:
This position assists the manager and or supervisor in the day to day management of the production department to meet product specifications and production requirements. This may include the direct operation of line equipment but more importantly this role troubleshoots problems with equipment, components or products. Makes minor repairs to production equipment or tools. Trains other technicians in the above functions as well as recording daily production, in process quality inspections as well as any downtime. Also responsible for shift production reports as well as entering data into EDPM software.
Primary Responsibilities:
Efficiently staff the lines in coordination with other shift Leads / Seniors. Lead the shift in the absence of the supervisor.
Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity. Troubleshoot problems with equipment, components or products. Make minor repairs to production equipment or tools.
Train technicians in performing all aspects of the Production Technician role and temporary labor in material handling of line components as well as all Hi-Jump RF gun transactions. Perform all safety training for shift of responsibility.
Act as department liaison with vendors, contractors, and engineering to support new product launches and component or equipment issues.
Provide reports and present at production meetings regarding production, progress, and changeover related issues.
Perform data entry into EDPM software, as well as E Time.
Education:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Mechanical education a plus
Experience:
3 or more years of experience and or education in working on or around manufacturing and packaging production line equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Successful completion of L4 technician training and demonstrated proficiency at the L4 level.
Skills:
Demonstration of mechanical aptitude
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement; using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Prior experience operating manufacturing packaging equipment is a plus
Knowledge of FDA regulations and compliance a plus
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.
Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.

Must be computer literate and able to navigate EDPM software.
Must have successfully completed all training for L 1, 2 and 3 technician.
Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
Must have completed first time supervisor courses in SIU
Fully demonstrates a high level of dedication and reliability
Must demonstrate a do as I do attitude by being an example of all company policies and procedures.
Must have demonstrated leadership skills in the following:
Tactful and empathetic communication
Decision making
Able to utilize all resources within company policies to meet demands
Ability to meaningfully communicate with vendors, customers and federal or local agencies.
