Job Description

HSM is seeking qualified candidates for the Laser Machine Operator position at our Metal Plant in Hickory, NC. The Laser Machine Operator will operate laser to produce fabricated steel parts to customer's specifications. (ie. Customers, sales, engineering, etc.)

• Operating laser by limited programming, setting up jobs, and troubleshooting
• Verify material type, size, quantity, and quality for processing
• Collect data to set up and make machine adjustments
• Interpret blueprints and sketches to produce products
• Communication with various departments to meet customer specifications
• Inspect parts
• Operate CNC press brake in laser/brake manufacturing cell
• Ensure inventory is manage in accordance with pre-set procedures
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
• Enter and delete programs as necessary

• Must be able to use calipers, micrometers, tape measure, industrial size hand tools.
• Must be able to drive a forklift (Experience preferred.)
• Must be able to work in a team environment and take direction well.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to read and interpret mechanical prints.
• Must have strong mechanical ability.
• Must have average computer skills.
• Must be able to do simple math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply.)
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
