The Role: Insolvency Associate | Austin, TX
We are seeking a highly skilled Insolvency Associate to join a nationally recognized law firm in Austin, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to manage sophisticated bankruptcy litigation matters, collaborate with experienced attorneys, and work closely with clients to develop innovative legal strategies. As part of the Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit, you will contribute to resolving complex insolvency issues and advancing clients' business goals.

In this position, you will:

  • Advocate for Clients: Represent businesses, creditors, and other stakeholders in bankruptcy litigation matters, including Chapter 11 cases, adversary proceedings, and contested matters.
  • Courtroom Experience: Handle significant hearing and trial appearances across Texas and other jurisdictions, requiring travel as needed.
  • Draft and Negotiate Legal Documents: Prepare and review pleadings, motions, proposed orders, settlement agreements, and other legal filings.
  • Collaborate Strategically: Work closely with colleagues to craft innovative strategies for complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
  • Analyze Financial Data: Review and interpret financial statements and documentation to assess client risk and formulate defense or claim strategies.
  • Manage Client Relationships: Provide strategic counsel to clients on bankruptcy laws, creditors rights, secured transactions, and commercial litigation.
  • Supervise Junior Staff: Oversee and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to deadlines.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on bankruptcy case law, precedents, and emerging legal trends to support client strategies.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

  • Years of Practice: 3-4 years of experience in bankruptcy litigation, including advocacy before bankruptcy courts.
  • Educational Background: Completion of law school courses in bankruptcy and secured credit is highly desirable.
  • Commercial Bankruptcy: Experience handling Chapter 11 cases, creditors' rights, and insolvency litigation is required.

Educational Credentials

  • Juris Doctor (JD): Degree from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Bar Membership: Active Texas bar license or a commitment to obtaining one promptly.
