Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Health Information Programs Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will create a positive and supportive learning environment for students in the Healthcare Access, Medical Coding, and Health Information Technology programs. You'll work closely with the Health Information Programs Director to plan, teach, and manage student learning in alignment with an approved course of study, industry standards, and accreditation requirements.
As the coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that the curriculum meets the standards set by the American Health Information Management Association Professional Certificate Approval Program, the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education, and advisory committee recommendations. You will also have the opportunity to teach online classes (with a remote option) and attend recruitment or other events as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach at least 12 credit hours (4 HIM-related courses) each fall and spring semester.
Assist in coordinating advisory board activities and externship opportunities for students.
Support the CAHIIM accreditation process and help maintain PCAP approval.
Obtain the CHAA and CCS credentials (if not already held) within one year and ensure all credential maintenance is completed every two years.
Contribute to marketing and recruitment efforts for all programs, including dual enrollment classes.
Assist with student advising and work with the Department Head to create graduation paths and plans.
Maintain open and effective communication with students, faculty, and industry partners.
Actively participate in campus committees, student advising, and other campus activities.
Submit all required documentation related to human resources and instruction in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications:
Required:
AHIMA-recognized credential: RHIA, RHIT.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a HIM-related field.
In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II Coding.
A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the HIM field.
Preferred:
CCS or CCS-P certification.
Previous teaching experience, especially in an online environment.
A Master's degree in educational leadership and technology.
Experience in higher education.
Familiarity with CAHIIM accreditation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
