Position Overview: 

This position demonstrates the ability to perform basic inspections, basic diagnoses, and basic repairs of heavy equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works as a member of a team to provide basic mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals. Entry-level position - Generally has less than two years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; works under immediate supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Performs basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures.
• Assists in the rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining of equipment and components.
• Learns how to plan equipment and component repairs.
• Learns how to complete parts orders and identify parts for return.
• Maintains all equipment and work areas - keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition.
• Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner.
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards. 
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers` needs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; EX: JLG Service Technician Training.
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • *We are open to hiring someone new to heavy equipment or the construction industry, but a strong mechanical background or an innate aptitude for mechanical systems is essential.
• Practice safe job practices for repairing lift equipment - Obide by company safety procedures and OSHA regulatory guidelines.
• Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
• Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
• Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Ability to operate a conventional forklift. *Training and operational certification provided, if needed.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
• The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
• The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
• The ability to read, write, and understand information.
• The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• Bilingual preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles; Constant movement and use of limbs. 
• Frequently move materials, tools or equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. 
• Must be able to climb up and down ladders or equipment. 
• Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment. 
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory and other signals, including alarms and instructions. 
• Required to visually inspect work, tools and equipment.
