Position Summary : The Emotional Wellness Intern Manager is accountable directly to the Senior Director of Emotional Wellness. This position is responsible for the supervision of Master level Interns, and may also provide clinical supervision for Licensed Graduate Interns. This is a full-time position based out of our Family Health and Birth Center in NE, DC.

The pay rate for this position ranges between $90,000 - $95,000 annually and the offer amount is determined by the candidate's education, qualifications, and experience.   Indeed provides their own estimated salary calculator and is not affiliated with COH's range.

Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets with interns regularly for supervision and provides real-time feedback direct observation, training, support, and coaching to support their development, areas of improvement and clinical growth. Creates meeting agendas, sends meeting agendas in advance when possible, and documents concerns promptly as needed.
  • Monitors performance of student interns in a timely manner, including ensuring interns are adhering to ethical standards and best practices in their clinical work. Completing intern forms as per their due dates for each school, documenting any issues or changes, providing recommendations for professional development and/or training opportunities, and recognizing interns when appropriate. 
  • Oversees the development of Internship program policies, protocols, and procedures, which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards for care. Ensuring Ensures quality by implementing evidence based, promising and best practices while consistently meeting meets expectations of partnered Universities.
  • Monitors and oversees clinical services provided by interns for quality of care, compliance with evidence-based practices, and adequate documentation of services through direct supervision, shadowing, review/approval of notes, spot checks, as well as peer review.
  • Provides short-term, problem focused therapy for no more than 2 patients, unless approved by the supervisor and for up to 8 sessions per patient as deemed appropriate. Short-term therapy will focus on goal setting, change, and utilizing brief interventions.
  • Completes a treatment plan for all short-term therapy clients by the 2nd scheduled session and for long-term therapy clients by the 4th scheduled session. 
  • Monitors client progress through the course of treatment, reevaluating and adapting the treatment plan at required intervals. Treatment Plan should be updated monthly for short term and at least every 3 months or more frequently as appropriate for long term therapy. 
  • Provides crisis intervention per the clinician’s licensing and COH guidelines, to include addressing suicidal/homicidal ideations. Creates patient safety contracts as appropriate with the patient in crisis and stored within the patients’ chart by close of business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. 


Minimum Requirements:

  • LICSW licensure required. Any providers who are licensed in Maryland who provide a copy of their license and MD CDS to Talent Management are also eligible for MD licensure reimbursement. 
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting required, preferably in a health care and/or community-based setting. 
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge base of clinical care standards in the treatment of adults, children and families.
  • At least 1 year of supervision and management experience required, 2 years preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Strong understanding of ethical principles, clinical care and professional standards related to clinical practice. 
  • Knowledge of community resources or the ability to become knowledgeable. 
  • Knowledge of integrated emotional wellness and/or ability to become knowledgeable. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage school partnership expectations and deliverables. 
  • Ability to travel and work between sites and via telehealth required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends preferred.
