Position Summary

The Director of Operations, T&C is responsible to lead the overall operations and administration functions within Savant Tax & Consulting (“Organization”). The Director of Operations, T&C works collaboratively with Tax & Consulting Regional Directors as well as other leaders and employees to ensure the short and longer-range strategic initiatives of the Tax & Consulting organization are met. This position requires a strong leader, with a proven record of operational acumen and excellence.

The Director of Operations, T&C can expect to focus in the following areas:

  • Manage and monitor operations relative to adjustments to structure, processes, systems and organizational capabilities;
  • Take an active role in implementing organizational short and longer-range strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and team growth;
  • Lead the overall development of the organization in the areas of performance planning, employee development and succession planning;
  • Oversee organization policies and procedures;
  • Actively participate as a member of the Leadership Team;
  • Foster strong working relationships with Regional Directors and leaders to ensure cohesive and coordinated operations.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, providing clear and concise updates on operational performance and initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the tax team and other departments, facilitating collaboration and information sharing.
  • Lead the development of staffing models to ensure the organization has the appropriate levels and skills within its employee workforce;.
  • Lead the development of tools to track and monitor employee productivity
  • Analyze and re-structure organization workflow to maximize efficiency;
  • Actively participate in Tax & Consulting budgeting and financial statement review with Head of ST&C to ensure organization and department goals are met
  • Collaborate with the Head of ST&C and Regional Directors to align operational goals with the overall business objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Select, supervise, empower, coach, develop, and retain a team of qualified individuals through effective hiring, employee development, performance management, succession planning, and recognition.
  • Develop and execute a clear succession plan for all key roles within the team, ensuring readiness and continuity in leadership positions.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Savant Tax and Consulting Operations and Regional Directors to establish clear performance measures for the greater ST&C team and individual members, ensuring these metrics are thoroughly communicated and understood.
  • Conduct regular discussions to review measures with direct staff, providing employees with specific feedback on their performance relative to expectations. Address areas for improvement promptly and celebrate achievements to motivate and reinforce successful outcomes, providing fair, constructive, and timely feedback.
  • Align team objectives and individual performance metrics directly with organizational strategic goals, ensuring clear communication and understanding of how team efforts contribute to broader company success. Collaborate with leadership team to review greater ST&C performance relative to expectations.
  • Oversee and lead administrative and operational staff, including hiring, assigning work, and recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
  • Maintain open and effective communication, ensuring that ST&C team members are informed, engaged, and aligned with firm updates and strategic changes.
  • Actively engage in ongoing coaching, providing regular, constructive feedback and guidance to foster professional growth and improvement.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement by fostering an environment that welcomes new ideas, supports risk-taking, and drives towards enhanced operational effectiveness.

A couple things to note about our Director of Operations, T&C position:

  • This position is based out of our headquarters at 190 Buckley Drive in Rockford, IL.
  • Typical office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
  • During Tax season, from January - April, you can expect to work 55-60 hours per week.

Qualifications

The Director of Operations, T&C position typically requires the following qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced degree preferred;
  • Active CPA or EA license

Experience

  • 5-10 years proven success in a similar leadership role within an organization of similar or larger size
  • Experience within the tax or financial industry is a plus

The Perks

The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $96,400 - $132,600 . However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
