**Job Description**
The Director of Operations ensures that all units within his/her supervision achieve success in finances, account retention, client satisfaction, employee training, retention and development. This Director of Operations will ensure NMS standards, policies, and procedures are upheld, while building and maintaining healthy, effective relationships with clients, customers, and employees.
**Responsibilities**
+ This position provides management and oversight of assigned contracts in Camp Services.
+ Responsible for delivering and tracking the performance of assigned contracts to meet key performance indicators.
+ Responsible for coaching and developing employees within the organization using a framework of formal coaching and succession planning.
+ Responsible for advancing all elements of NMS performance excellence strategy in the context of continuous improvement.
+ Responsible for facilitating and supporting a "One Team" relationship dynamic within the NMS organization.
+ Direct and coordinates the delivery of those NMS services as assigned.
+ Develops and implements comprehensive business plans required by assigned activities.
+ Establishes and implements an organized system of supervision and formal operating procedures.
+ Ensures all assigned activities comply with sound business practices as well as NMS's internal and external business requirements.
+ Monitors and ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements.
+ Meets with clients/customers to maintain business relationships, market products, and resolve problems and keep open all forms of communications.
+ Leads, directs, and communicates with staff to keep them informed and motivated.
+ Ensures the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all assigned employees are defined and understood.
+ Assign tasks to employees and inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
+ Develops multi-unit operating budget and operates within that budget.
+ Approves assigned area budget expenditures.
+ Develops bid material and establishes cost and manpower templates for contracts for new clients.
+ Develops menus and scope of work for bid proposals.
+ Supports an active and comprehensive safety and Continuing Improvement program.
+ Consistently demonstrates remarkable skills in structuring assigned activities, management teamwork, communications, and operational efficiencies, handling of changing business needs, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
+ Being active and implement employee retention programs to increase employee retention and promote employee development.
+ Supervisory Responsibilities:
+ Manages various subordinate Managers, Supervisors, and assigned employees.
+ Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; traveling to various work sites; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
+ This is a remote work from home position that requires some in office work occasionally and as needed at NMS Corporate offices in Anchorage, AK.
+ This position is responsible for the supervision of staff.
+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ A bachelor's degree in business management or a directly related field.
+ At least ten (10) years of related service based, hospitality, food service, housekeeping, hotel or remote camp management experience that includes at least five (5) years of significant overall management responsibilities for a distinct business operation/enterprise.
+ At least five (5) years' experience managing procurement procedures and managing vendor relationships.
+ At least five (5) years' experience managing profit and loss for multi-units to include detailed reporting and analysis to help make key business decisions.
+ Must be able to perform each of the essential duties listed above with a professional degree of competency.
+ Requires a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
+ Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to criminal background check, drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment.
+ Proven success at managing multiple tasks, projects and subordinates.
+ Proficiency in planning and organization.
+ Demonstrated understanding of profit attainment and profit growth.
+ Strong ability to lead, build diverse teams and oversee training.
+ Personal maturity and poise; the ability to remain composed under pressure, to make sound decisions, and to manage diversity.
+ Personal drive and energy - a liking of challenges and opportunities to innovate.
+ Computer literacy includes competence in Microsoft applications and web-based applications.
+ Working knowledge of general accounting principles and current NMS accounting policies.
+ Strong communication skills, in both written and verbal forms.
Travel
+ May travel up to 30% of the time. This position requires frequent travel to remote camp locations.
+ This position will also require occasional travel to corporate meetings, training, and client gatherings.
+ The schedule for this position will vary and may occasionally entail evening and/or weekend work.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather:Requires most or all work to be done inside. Will be occasionally exposed to extreme arctic conditions.
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.
Description of environment: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. This position is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: Yes, 30 %.
