The Role: Lateral Litigation Associate | Portland, OR
We are seeking a skilled Lateral Litigation Associate to join a leading international law firm in its Portland office. In this position, you will:

  • Represent clients in complex civil and business litigation matters in federal and state courts.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and legal briefs with attention to detail and strategic insight.
  • Engage in discovery and e-discovery processes, including depositions and document reviews.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients on sophisticated litigation matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-office teams to handle multi-jurisdictional cases and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Work closely with experienced practitioners to develop innovative legal strategies and solutions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

  • Years of Practice: 35 years of experience in civil or complex business litigation.
  • Judicial Clerkship: Experience as a judicial clerk is encouraged but not required.
  • Litigation Background: Strong foundation in handling sophisticated litigation matters, with e-discovery experience considered a plus.

Educational Credentials

  • Juris Doctor (JD): Degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Bar Membership: Active Oregon State bar license or eligibility to waive in.

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale litigation matters effectively.
