Position Summary

Dr. Randall Batemanâ™s lab investigates the causes, and future diagnosis and treatments of Alzheimerâ™s disease utilizing a wide variety of assays and techniques from basic applications, such as quantitative measurement of stable-isotope labeled peptides to clinical translational studies in diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for Alzheimerâ™s disease. We have an ongoing clinical study to collect matched blood and cerebrospinal fluid from patients with memory concerns in the clinic, and a study called the Study to Understand Novel Biomarkers in Researching Dementia (SUNBIRD) to validate blood biomarkers for Alzheimerâ™s disease in a large clinic-based cohort.


This position is a member of a multidisciplinary research team and performs a variety of research, data base, and clerical duties of a routine and technical nature in support of clinical research to ensure adherence to protocols and quality of information received. This position involves interactions with research participants, family, and caregivers in a research setting.


This position interacts with participants who have mild to moderate dementia and healthy control volunteers.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Processes human blood samples, including centrifugation of blood samples and aliquoting plasma into tubes. Documents processing conditions and maintains log of sample location.
  • Works with staff to identify, screen, and enroll study participants.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other study personnel as required to include data entry as needed for study implementation and routine problem resolution. Maintains and updates computer database; logs forms received and files as appropriate.
  • Prepares files and kits needed for study visits and keeps track of how many supplies are available.
  • Attends routine meetings and other meetings related to the clinical research; stays abreast of information and any changes to study protocol.

Salary Range

$19.21 - $28.85 / Hourly
