Job Description

The Solid Tumor Clinical Nurse Specialist is a clinical leader for UCSF Cancer Center Clinics in San Francisco. The CNS partners with other Oncology CNS(s) and NPDS(s) in Solid Tumor Clinics, Infusion, Adult Inpatient, Heme/BMT, and Radiation Oncology, promoting consistency in practices across sites.

The CNS is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, comorbidities, major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, patient education and research requirements. At this operational level, the CNS proactively embraces the NCCN and Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe and compassionate care. The CNS employs an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals and regulatory requirements. The CNS is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of cancer clinics and organization.

The CNS leads work related to developing plans of care for complex patient care issues, care coordination of cancer patients across the treatment continuum and fosters continuity of care to maximize patient outcomes. This role positively impacts patient care and improves nursing practice through access to evidence-based practices, current research, cancer care trends, and best practices. The CNS participates in UCSF councils, committees, and efforts at the state and national level to maximize care coordination and process improvement.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $209,447 - $235,840 (Annual Rate).
