Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Cooperative Fire Protection, the Assistant Deputy Director, Training, Safety, and Emergency Medical Services is responsible as the Department Training Chief for the policy direction, policy implementation, coordination, and support of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s (CAL FIRE) mission, vision, and values and is responsible for the direct oversight of the Training, Safety, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Programs, which are critical to achieving departmental goals and objectives.
As a member of the Department Leadership Team, the incumbent works cooperatively with the Assistant Region Chiefs and Program Assistant Deputy Directors to influence the development, establishment, implementation, and evaluation of all departmental policies, programs, budgets, and other fiscal matters within the purview of their area of responsibility. This includes working with Unit, Region, Program, and Management Services staff in preparing information for executive staff and the Department of Finance. The ADD also regularly responds to emergencies and wildfires of all types and sizes. An incumbent spends a considerable amount of time in the field at all-hazard emergency incidents providing critical leadership, oversight, and direction. They are expected to function in the capacity of an active-duty firefighter and first responder.
This position may qualify for a recruitment and retention bonus of $1550 per month.You will find additional information about the job in the .
