Job Description: The Business Analyst position for the Office of the CMO plays an important business-facing role in supporting the coordination of initiatives across a complex organization that includes Utilization Management, Care Management and Population Health (UM/CM/PH) departments. The BA will be instrumental in the standardization of work processes and documentation and integration of multiple teams and establishing processes for integration and collaboration. Key functions include identifying gaps in business processes and structure and then implementing solutions as well translating business concepts/strategies into presentations/communications and / or developing and presenting material to clearly communicate the business concept, strategy and progress to different types of stakeholders.
Activities include helping to identify problems, facilitating the root cause analysis process and identification of solutions (both operational and technical), development of process plan, supporting the implementation and documentation of the solutions for achievement of sustained improvement in support of organizational objectives. Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to specific audiences is key, as is the ability to prioritize activities in a complex and dynamic environment.
Specialization The Business Analyst will need to be able to act as a bridge between different disciplines such as UM/CM/PH within the Division of CMO as well as collaborating teams including Regional Services, Marketing, Contracting, Government Programs, RAAD, IT, Medical Directors, external stakeholders and others. Knowledge of healthcare environment and clinical operations is essential as well as ability to navigate complex organization and reporting relationships (operational and technical), and governance and transactional work. Their specialty is the intersection of PH / Medical Management/Clinical Ops business concepts, organizational skills, process and documentation management, and performance tracking.
Job Responsibilities: - Works directly with a Program Manager, Project Sponsor or a team leader to drive the development and delivery of required process materials for a project or major initiative.
- Applies core performance management standards, concepts and methods to drive results that produce improvements and are sustainable.
- Implementation of process improvement including establishment of standardized processes, documentation and socialization / training of stakeholders as needed.
- Management of certain external relationships (e.g. vendors, health plans etc) as directed by the CMO.
- Oversight and coordination of Division level meetings and initiatives as assigned
Leadership: - Provides matrixed direction and leadership to all project team participants and the project sponsor (who will tacitly represent the process owner).
- Provides training on process and documentation standards and foundational methods as needed to support the project and the sustainment of the deliverables after the project has closed.
- Provides performance feedback to the manager of project team participants re engagement and accountability.
Job Complexity: - This role will be tactical and operational in nature. There will be opportunities for independent work, but majority of the activities will be based upon directions by others.
- The role will need to be able to analyze and present a summary of findings related to processes and performance.
- A working understanding of how systems and data interact is necessary.
- Ability to synthesize information, identify priorities, identify and initiate solutions.
- This role involves performing tasks of varying complexity to deliver agreed upon deliverables for a project or an initiative.
- Self-directed and self-initiated efforts will be expected
- This requires having a solid working knowledge of process management methods and the ability to make independent decisions to meet stakeholder requirements.
- The role will serve as primary manager of multiple processes and Division initiatives. As such, familiarity with developing organizational systems and supporting documentation is required.
- Self-directed problem-solving and coordinating across multiple stakeholders is key.
- Projects will be on the smaller scale with shorter time frames and low complexity with growth opportunity.
- Self-directed identification of process improvement opportunities across all departments and teams within the Office of the CMO
Required Experience: - Healthcare background in clinical ops, UM, CM, and/or population health
- Has facilitated operations, implementation, process improvement and has participated on a project team or performance improvement initiative.
- Minimum 2 yrs professional experience in relevant role Business Analyst II or
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in relevant roles.
- Experience working in both project and operational capacities.
Professional Skills: - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and facilitate workshops and meetings with a large, diverse stakeholder participation. Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and visualize processes.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills required
- Proficient with healthcare terminology and processes
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, MS Visio (or equivalent diagramming tool), PPT, and collaboration tools.
Required Education: - Bachelor's degree mandatory. Relevant work experience, additional relevant coursework or Master's preferred
Background and Certifications: At least two of the following or in the process of achieving in any of the following areas:
- Degree in Healthcare Administration or Healthcare Management.
- Five years experience in healthcare delivery environment.
- Coursework in Project Management, Business Process redesign or similar.
- Background in / understanding of Lean or Six Sigma.
Additional Information: Salary: $83,000 - $108,000 Annual
