Job Description

Job Description:

Assistant Winemaker / Cellar Master

Are you passionate about the potential of East Coast wine? Do you thrive in a dynamic, upbeat environment? We're seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Winemaker / Cellar Master to join our team at Chaddsford Winery.

Located in Chadds Ford, PA on five historic acres dating back to the American Revolution, Chaddsford Winery sits as one of Pennsylvania’s oldest and most acclaimed wineries. We have a beautiful, rustic tasting room and production facility housed in our 200-year-old bank barn with plentiful outdoor seating. We are open 7 days a week, offering tasting flights, immersive ‘reserve’ pairing programs, flagship festivals, and ticketed events, such as our wildly popular Adult Trick or Treat Program. We have a passionate, expanding team with our new sister winery, White Horse Winery, and this is an opportunity to work with and learn from acclaimed lead winemakers Seferino Cotzojay and Edward Sparks.
We’re looking for a proven professional to join our production team to help build upon our reputation and succeed in our collaborative culture.

Position Summary:
We’re looking for someone who loves wine, enjoys working with their hands, and finds excitement in both the science and artistry of winemaking. This role is for someone who values a balanced work environment and thrives in a collaborative atmosphere. If you enjoy variety in your work—one day managing fermentations, another blending wines, and yet another working outdoors—this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•  Be part of a hands-on winemaking process from grape to bottle
•  Participate in tastings and blending projects
•  Monitor fermentations, perform lab analysis, and ensure wines are free from flaws
•  Conduct barrel and tank work, including filling, topping, stirring, and sanitation
•  Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient cellar space
•  Manage inventory of bulk wine, cellar chemicals, and production supplies
•  Maintain accurate and up-to-date production records and data entry
•  Assist with bottling, equipment sanitation, and setup
•  Work with and train production team members
•  Collaborate with the winemaking and management team to meet production goals and timelines
•  Participate in winery events and represent the winemaking team as needed

Expectations:
•  Bring a positive, team-oriented attitude every day
•  Maintain a professional and fun work environment
•  Be willing to learn, adapt, and contribute ideas to enhance our processes
•  Collaborates seamlessly with team members and other departments
•  Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed

Skills & Experience:
•  Passion for wine and eagerness to learn
•  2-3 years of experience in wine, beer, or spirits production
•  Experience with fermentation, blending, and laboratory analysis
•  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•  Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•  Forklift experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
•  Comfortable standing, walking, and working on concrete floors for extended periods
•  Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
•  Ability to bend, squat, and perform physically demanding tasks as required
•  Ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb over and under obstacles, and generally move about in a manufacturing environment while inspecting, observing, and managing operations
•  Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and loud noises

Benefits:
•  Work with a great team
•  Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Disability Insurance
•  401k with employer match
•  Accrued paid time off and paid holidays
•  Balance of physical and mental, indoor and outdoor activities
•  30% employee discount applicable to wine, food, and merch
•  Paid continuing wine education

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a growing team and help shape the future of our winemaking program. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and want to be part of something special, we’d love to hear from you!
