• Support and advance the mission of the HPHE department and Western Michigan University by fostering a learning environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and by contributing to the department's strategic goals.
• Deliver undergraduate courses in event and sport management, including specialized courses. Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and career development.
• Develop and maintain an active research agenda in event and sport management, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at conferences, and securing research funding.
• Engage in service to the professional community through participation in relevant associations, review panels, and other events.
• Promote the department and university through outreach activities and community partnerships.
• Contribute to departmental committees, participate in faculty governance, and engage in university-wide initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department's programs and initiatives.

Short Job Description:

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Event Management, Sport Management, Recreation Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABD will be considered if earned by application submission date and degree is conferred by start date.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated potential for high-quality research and scholarly productivity, including publications or work in progress.
• Evidence of and ability to teach and develop curriculum in innovative formats (cohort, hybrid, online, site-based, etc.).
